new why?

"Hello all,

We've been trying to keep our mouths shut, but finally the time for release is upon us... for news at least. As soon as next month, we will have a new WHY? 12". It's for "The Hollows," the lead single to the soon to be smash LP, Alopecia.

We are teaming up with the good folks at Tomlab to bring two separate 12"s - one for the states and one for Europe. Both versions will sport the same title track while each will have 3 of their own exclusive B-sides from a slew of remixes and covers by the likes of Boards Of Canada, Dntel, Xiu Xiu, Dump (James McNew of Yo La Tengo), Islands, and Half-handed Cloud. The Dntel and BoC tracks are remixes for other Alopecia tracks. We figured we'd go the other route and give you ther remixes before the real deal. The covers are of older WHY? related material.

At this time we are not planning to release these tracks in digital or CD formats, and the release will be limited to 1000 units in the states... and probably 1000 in Europe as well. The will also be on different colored vinyl in clear jackets.

Make sure not to miss out on the newly announced surprise show at the Knitting Factory NY this Sunday. Admission is a whopping dollar. Yes, $1. You can barely buy a can of soda for that... I guess you could get a copy of the new Radiohead record (but the site hasn't worked for me all day!!!).

Anyway, Alopecia will also be released by anticon in conjunction with Tomlab in Europe and will find its way into stores around March 11, 2008.

Please support these boys... They've worked awfully hard on the record and it shows. The very few that have heard it claim that it blows Elephant Eyelash out of the water, and as much as I personally love Elephant Eylash, I would say the same."
