ConeToaster: Having just been to the Glasgow gig, I was curious as to how you ended up hooking up with Optimo?

Dan Deacon: im not sure. im not sure if they know either.



CT: Are there any special plans for the NYE show, or is it the current
Dan Deacon show, only in the middle of 1,500 people?

DD: optimo is doing a lot to keep my show as unaltered as possible while still making it enjoyable for 1500 people. it'll be a little different
from my normal show, but this show is already a little different from
my normal show so it makes sense to alter it.



CT: There's been universal praise for your live shows this year. Do you
feel the live performances are just as important as the records
themselves, or even more so?

DD: they are totally just as important if not more. it depends on context.



CT: Are there any plans to record new material in the New Year, or any other projects coming to our attention soon?

DD: there should be at least 2 albums and another dvd out next year, as well as a bunch of 7" singles. silence like the wind will be the first
single.



CT: I'm taking Dan Deacon out on a date: How do I seduce him?

DD: i dont know. i never really go on dates. keep bringing me beers and talk to me about conspiracy theory, phase cancellation or daffy duck



CT: What's your favourite track from a musical?

DD: singing in the rain is the most awesome movie ever
